Brown Bag Social
Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends and Supporters of Assumption,

We are almost two thirds of the way through this school year already and we are still moving forward beautifully! Our new ECaR reading program is up and running, particularly in the formative grades downstairs where the difference it is making is already very noticeable. Our "new" computer lab is also being well utilized with students learning the basics as well as some techniques that they will need for high school.

Very soon we are going to be starting a campaign for donations of new Ipads or monetary donations towards the cost of purchasing Ipads for the classrooms. We have just bought a subscription to Reading A-Z and Raz Kids for each classroom Pre-K - 5th Grade to support our reading push, and having Ipads would allow students to use these programs in the classroom even while doing small group reading with the teacher. This would allow students to have access to thousands of books, far more than we could ever purchase and house in the school. Having classroom sets of Ipads would also allow us to purchase online textbooks which over time would save thousands of dollars and give students access to a multitude of additional resources that come as part of the online textbook package. We have truly been blessed with the magnificent support that we have received to help move our school forward with our technological needs, thanks to our Friends of Assumption group and other wonderful donors, and we look forward to continued support from our current donors as well as new supporters, including more of our own school and parish families.

We are also in the process of creating a plan to meeting our ongoing building needs. Space is getting very tight and we are starting to think of creative solutions to accommodate a growing number of students. We are currently at 139 students with a goal of 155 students for 2014-15!This is a very exciting time for us and we look forward to becoming all that we can be and then some!

Remember, registration for the 2014-2015 school year is open. We are happy to report that we had a very successful Open House and have already had 4of those new families with a total of 8 new children come in and register for next year. We are hoping to reach our goal of 155 registered students before the summer, so if you have not already registered please remember to do so as soon as possible. If you are a new family interested in finding out more about Assumption, or if you would like to come in for a tour, please contact me at showard@assumptiondenver.org. Please remember, the cutoff date for Financial Aid and Scholarship applications is April 1, 2014.

As we prepare to begin our Lenten journey, let us make a point of focusing a little more on God and put away life's many distractions for at least a few minutes every day. Let us put God "front and center" and open our hearts to His voice.

"If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts." See Psalm 95:8
God Bless,

Mrs. Sandy Howard Principal showard@assumptiondenver.org
